We are searching for a house/pet sitter to stay in our off-grid tiny house nestled between the Danube Plain and the Balkan Mountains outside of Debnevo (near Troyan). You will care for two adult dogs and four puppies.
The tiny house sits atop a hill overlooking the Balkan Mountains surrounded by rolling hills and agricultural land. It has solar power and a wood stove (we are currently building a compost heat system). Water is gathered from a nearby spring. Sunrises can be viewed from your bed and sunsets from the porch.
The dogs are all sweet, gentle giants but you must be comfortable around large dogs. They need attention and maybe some training, if you wish. They are fed once daily with either fresh meats (cooked at a nearby facility) or bagged kibble. The two adults, Rey and Sara, were each rescued from horrible living situations and are incredibly loving and appreciative as they know that life could be much harsher. The puppies (whose names vary depending on who is speaking) are the result of a misunderstanding about the female dog’s sterilization status. They are sweet and uninitiated to the harsh realities of dog life in the region.
Preferably you will have your own transportation, however arrangements can be made for a vehicle. Fuel costs will be subsidized for picking up food in a nearby village as well as collection of water for yourself and the dogs. The property is part of Venets Farm, an organic vegetable farm with permaculture based orchards. Opportunities are available for the sitter to volunteer with the operations of the farm as well in exchange for a daily food allowance.
This is an open-ended situation as we need long-term, continuous care. We prefer at least one month and highly encourage longer stays. Please reach out if you are interested but have a different availability than the one mentioned.
