We are looking for a house sitter(s) who can keep the house alive and who can also take care of our 2 dogs and our cat during our absence from June 26 to July 31. But we think it would be best to arrive at least 1 or 2 day/s in advance so that we can teach you about the place and its particularities.
THE LOCATION
Our house is of recent construction (the finishing touches are not yet complete) and has its own special features. First of all, it's located on the top and side of a mountain on a farm overlooking Nicoya, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Furthermore, it is supplied with electricity from a solar system and with water from the farm's own well. There's a propane stove to cook your meals. So these realities demand a certain amount of attention.
Also, the fact that we're at altitude requires a 4x4 vehicle to access the house, so we'll leave you our vehicle so you can move around freely.
The house is large, but small at the same time. The first floor consists of 1 small, well-equipped kitchen and 1 small full bathroom. There are 3 bedrooms (2 with single beds, 1 with Queen-size bed) on the 1st floor, which is bordered by a balcony.
Attached to the house is a bedroom with its own bathroom, which cannot be used by the housesitter/s. And above this annex is a terrace (not yet furnished), offering a stunning view.
Between the main part and the annex is an outdoor area with the dining table. As well as the laundry area.
We have a good, reliable internet connection at your disposal.
EXPECTATIONS
We expect the housesitter/s to take care of housekeeping and make sure everything stays in order. Such as:
- Ensure the proper functioning of all types of equipment
- Ensure that the premises, including the annex, are in good condition
- Regularly start unused vehicles
- Take good care of our furry family members
We will remain accessible via internet communication means (mainly Whatsapp, Costa Rica oblige) and we have family members living twenty minutes away. We also know the neighbors and have friends here, so all that people can help out if needed.
OUR PETS
About our furry members. We have Nutella the 4-year-old Great Dane, Skippy her year-old daughter from an unknown father and Lu our 11-year-old tabby cat.
The main task with each of them is to feed and cuddle them. As for exercise, the farm is large enough for everyone to do as they please.
You won't be surprised if I tell you that Lu lives more at night and asks to go out. She also occasionally brings us back little hunting trophies in the bedroom
FARM
All the farming related facilities are located at the bottom of the property.
It's not expect from the housesitter/s to care for the farm needs. But if you have some experience and skills in farming and that you'd really want to give sometime, you'd be welcomed to do so. We are usually responsibles for goats, sheeps and rabbits, milking the goats every morning.
So if you have any interest in that, it will have to be discussed
.
SURROUNDINGS
As we're located minutes from Nicoya, you won't have any trouble getting to do your shopping and errands..
There are some interesting attractions in the area such as:
- Barra Honda Park caves
- Cerro de la Cruz hiking trail
- Visit Christ the Redeemer, hiking
Then, there is a variety of beaches within 45min to 2hrs drive. As well as tubing, swimming in a turquoise waterfall, zoo with Zipline, etc.
I have a few references to suggest that I'd be delighted to share with you in person.
We strongly recommend that you take part in the festivities celebrating the annexation of Guanacaste, which will take place from July 20 to 28 in Nicoya's Central Park. What's more, it's the 200th anniversary, so it will be bigger.
