Ours is a country home on 5 acres in a semi-rural area. This is a peaceful, lovely place with extensive decks and a 3-season room. We have large vegetable gardens (~2000 sq. ft./185 m^2), a small greenhouse, and about 1/2 acre (200 m^2) orchard. We have no pets or livestock to care for. Mostly, we need someone to water and care for gardens, greenhouse, and orchard, and mow as needed, while we are away for a month or so. Our irrigation systems are not automated, so when watering our caretakers need to stick around. We do our best to garden and care for tree and vine fruit organically. Our caretakers might need to spray soap or hort oil against aphids.
Caretaker pets are OK. There is a large fenced enclosure around the back of the house, and the orchard is fenced as well.
We regularly see wildlife here: resident deer, coyotes, bob cats. Lots of resident and migrant birds come through, and we've had swallows nesting the last 2 years in nesting boxes we built for them. We have never seen black bear, but they are here, along with other, smaller critters of all sorts.
In June, there will be fresh asparagus and strawberries available from our gardens.
Puget Sound is close, and several State Parks are within 1/2 hour drive, so kayaking, waterboarding, and hiking are all close at hand. A big play ground and park with mountain biking, walking, and equestrian trails is a very short drive away. Olympic National Park and ocean beaches are about 2 hours away.
