We are a family of 3 (Eric, Muriel & Léna), looking for trustworthy, caring, laid-back and friendly people! We love to meet and share stories with people from all over the world! We have had many house sitters in the last few years and it's been great!
Our house is not brand new and will soon undergo a major renovation, but it feels cosy. If you prefer new, comfortable and perfectly tidy houses, we advise you don't apply! No television. We can only host one or two people now.
The cats (Lia 9 years old and Marius 17 years old) are independent (use the cat flap day and night), but require attention when it comes to food. They tend to sleep indoors at night and love company. They don't use the litter box. They are sterilized. Marius is getting old and often talks to himself very loudly, but loves cuddles!
In the summer: the vegetable garden plot will require little attention thanks to automatic watering, but you may have to harvest a few tomatoes and green beens!
We own a 115 m2 house with a small garden in the city of Clermont-Ferrand, France. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood, where parking is always available and free. Our house is not brand new and will soon undergo a major renovation, but it is cosy. The area is residential, but we have 2 bakeries, a butcher's shop, a grocery store, a pharmacy and a doctors' office within a 10 min walk.
The house is located on the side of a hill (hence a nice view over the city and its cathedral). The house is located just next to a green area with hiking paths. The city center is a 20-minute walk. 5 min walk to the nearest bus stop.
We can accommodate a single person or a couple.
The region offers many opportunities for walks in the historic center of Clermont, as well as in the Chaîne des Puys and the Sancy massif. Clermont has a few small museums: art, textiles, natural sciences and photography. Guided tours of the historic city center are organized by the tourist office. The Michelin museum is also worth a visit.
It takes about twenty minutes by car to go to the Chaîne des Puys and its 80 volcanoes (UNESCO site), and 40 minutes to the Sancy-Mont Dore massif. Many hiking trail options and swimming in lakes. Shuttle buses can take you to hiking trailheads, the Puy de Dome volcano and its cogwheel train, Vulcania (science and family themed park) in the summer.
Wifi is available in the house. Sonos speakers connected to wifi are located in the main rooms for listening to the radio and music, with access to an unlimited streaming service. No television.
Bicycles will be available for house-sitters.
A drum kit and an electronic piano are also available.
A barbecue is available and garden furniture will be installed for the summer.
We cycle around and outside the city a lot and are nature lovers, so you'll find many hiking guidebooks. You will also find bookshelves with cookbooks, books in English (we are French-American family)...
