We are Lissa and Gordon and have lived in Durango, Colorado for the past 23 years. We are retired now but were an Occupational and Physical Therapist respectively during our professional lives. Our two children (Quin and Kai) are young adults now and live in Portland, Oregon and Salt Lake City, Utah. We've both been studying Spanish and decided to travel to Mexico to improve our language skills. We have a number of houseplants and an 18 year old female indoor cat (Molly) that will need care and companionship while we're away.
Our home is a single family dwelling with 3 bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms, a living room, a family room, kitchen, office, and music room. We're walking distance to downtown Durango and on a local route for the Durango Transit bus system. The house is 3 blocks from Overend Mountain Park which is on the west edge of Durango and has an extensive system of hiking and mountain biking trails. Durango is both a tourist and a college town (Fort Lewis College) and so has a wide assortment of cultural events, dining and shopping opportunities as well as an historic narrow gauge train that makes a 50 mile trip from Durango to Silverton several times a day. The Animas River runs through Durango providing world class trout fishing and whitewater rafting, and the scenic Animas River Trail that follows the river for 7 miles from the north to the south end of Durango is a great paved path for walking or bicycling along the river.
We usually give Molly a couple of tablespoons of wet cat food three times a day (roughly 8am, 1pm and 7pm) and keep her dry food bowl filled and always available near her water fountain. She's an elderly cat and the vet has cautioned us that she needs to drink a lot.
We also have a number of houseplants that get watered about once a week.
