Hi! We (Rene and Diane) have a small farm just outside of Motueka on the South Island. We're less than a 15 minute drive to Motueka, about 30 minutes to Abel Tasman National Park, 45 minutes to Nelson and an hour to Golden Bay. Most importantly, we're only a 7 minute drive from a fabulous cafe with great food and coffee!
We’re looking for a couple to housesit our farm. Ideally, you will have some experience of pumps, fencing, cattle, tractors, troughs, etc but we can certainly teach you what you don't know. You'll need to feed out every 2-3 days (we have 13 cattle on site) but we can set everything up before we go so all you'll need to do is move the bale feeder. It would be great if you could also keep the weeds in our gardens under control - that shouldn't be difficult as nothing will be growing over winter. We will be away from 28 May 2017 until 6 September but always contactable by ).
We have nice neighbours within walking distance so we’re not isolated and we'll set you up with someone you can contact if you need help with anything farm-wise. Our house is a small two bedroom cottage with lots of character and a cozy feel. It is fully insulated (we've renovated almost the whole house) with a great woodburner. Wifi will be available (40Gb per month), lots of dry wood and rainwater. The cottage has fabulous views across the land, which is stunningly beautiful...and it's not just us that say that. Oh, and we grow peonies but they'll be asleep while we're away and we have somebody coming in to spray them.
We have had three sets of housesitters in the past and they all say it's their favourite housesit.
