We are a youthful retired couple with no physical restrictions available to travel almost anywhere. We’re reliable, impeccable housekeepers and financially responsible who want to expand our lives in ways that are mutually beneficial for us and homeowners. We are friendly, outgoing and have respect for other cultures. We’re open to travel almost anywhere, prefer warmer locations but would consider winter weather for the right location.
Sitting for pets and livestock can be part of an assignment. We don’t object to some livestock work such as feeding and cleaning but we have no experience other than feeding chickens, gathering eggs and cleaning up. If an owner has other needs and feels confident we can learn then we are certainly willing to consider.
We’re pet lovers, particularly cats. Taking dogs for brisk walks and playing with them and cats is something we enjoy. Cats taking naps on our laps and on the bed can be fine as cats are independent creatures. Our preference is that dogs are not lap pets or bed partners.
We can work with pet medications when needed. We prefer not to sit with older geriatric pets that require very special care or have incontinence issues that require regular clean up of the pet and the home.
We are retired and enjoy visiting different places and experience them as residents and not tourists. House sitting should provide that opportunity and along with being a temporary resident we reduce our expenses so we can do this frequently. We can provide a mutual benefit to the homeowner by taking care of their concerns regarding leaving their home.
We also expect we will make friends from the experience. The best of all worlds would be a very special location where we become a trusted repeat sitter for a home owner
Our most recent sitting experiences are in Costa Rica, Santa Fe New Mexico, Asheville, NC and Philadelphia with references quickly available and we have also house sat outside the network.
We travel frequently and rent fully equipped homes from a week to a month at a time in the US, Mexico and Central America. While we are paying for these stays we feel the responsibility to the homeowner is very similar. We like to leave the owner marking us in their reference book as excellent tenants. I think every time we have rented the home has been cleaner on check out.
We are also very capable on regular maintenance items including plumbing and electrical. We have built two homes and remodeled several. I can fix many things properly but I also know when to stop and call a professional.
We can provide reliable references to vouch for our character, integrity and the way we live in our own home. We are sitters owners can trust to treat their property with respect and in the manner they instruct. We are good communicators, before, during and after the assignment. We are willing to arrive beforehand at our own expense so we can meet and be briefed.
We are very flexible and can arrange our affairs to be available. We would not expect to have a change midway through an assignment that would place the burden of the property back to the owner. We feel very strongly that by accepting an assignment it is our responsibility to fulfill that obligation.
We have traveled outside of the USA to Latin American. We have traveled over most of Mexico, about 8 trips from 2 weeks duration to a month. We traveled, and rented a home in Nicaragua, done a month long house sitting assignment in Costa Rica along with stays in Guatemala and Belize. We enjoy different cultures and have a great deal of respect for them. We try very hard to read up on the history and politics of places we visit.
We are willing to travel long distances for the right assignment. We have passports and no travel restrictions.
Lastly when the home owners return they will feel a great relief that by choosing us their property has been well taken care of and they can come back to their regular life with no unexpected surprises.
