Have time will travel. Home base, San Diego, California. My wife and I are both retired military.
(US Army) We have four grown children and are in a period of life that allows us freedom of travel and lifestyle.
We have lived all over the world and have grown to love all cultures and appreciate diversity. The exchange of service is a "win-win" situation. You get to travel and we enjoy being settled with precious animals to fill our days for a few weeks. Our reason to house-sit is simple...we love change, love animals and appreciate a situation that benefits both parties.
We do not smoke or drink and believe in tending anothers home with the philosophy of leaving things better than they are found upon arrival.
This last year we have decided to write weekly correspondence to the homeowners during their absence, which will include photographs of their animals and home and is designed to add assurance to their lives while they are away.
We have acquired excellent references which attest to our sincerity and competency. This is our ninth year to accept occasional house-sits, and recently we have added a personal requirement of our own. We have noticed that when we have a small written journal provided by the homeowners to be the "voice" for their animals, plants and home during their absence....these house-sits have been next to perfect. (We have an excellent sample to send as a helpful example to copy.)
We also would like to request the "purpose" of your travel, for example are you completing a "Bucket List" goal of travel, or are you visiting family or friends and would also like to ask if you have used housecarers before or have had house-sitters in your home in the past? This information is helpful to us before we commit to your sit. (We are committment orientated because of our military background, thus we WILL BE THERE if we accept your pet-sit )
We do fly into our out of state pet- sits now, and use rental cars or local transportation to meet our needs of shopping for food staples and occasional church services.
Because of our personal travel decisions these days, we are now choosing longer pet-sits.
Until We Touch Lives,
Jim & Marianne Reynolds
