I am a photographer/graphic designer and my husband is a Business Strategy Consultant. We have traveled almost constantly for the past ten years and love to explore.
We have been house sitting and caring for animals for many years. I owned a small house sitting business while in college (NMSU Animal Science) specializing in large animals, while also running a horse boarding facility. In the last 6 years we have completed house sitting assignments in the US, Mexico, Italy, and France, from 3 days to 6 months in duration. We are used to being flexible and adapting to new environments quickly. We are equally at home in a totally urban environment as we are in a very rural place miles away from the nearest neighbor. We are mature, stable and reliable. We are also non- smoking and don't do drugs. We are financially stable as well so we aren't looking for house sitting as a way to live cheap, more for the experience of living as a local in a different environment for a period of time.
As former home owners who travel ourselves we understand many of the concerns you may have while being away from home. Our primary goal is to take care of everything on the home front so you can fully enjoy your time away.
We love animals! We have both had several dogs and cats since childhood. I have extensive experience with owning horses and goats (including milking). Between the two of us we've also either owned or cared for parrots, sugar gliders, several reptiles and pretty much every type of barnyard creature imaginable (pigs, cows, sheep, donkeys, emus, llamas). We both very much enjoy being around animals of all types and that is something we have missed these past years of traveling. We both work from home so we spend a lot of time with the animals we sit for. We make them feel loved and secure while their owners are away.
I am a good gardener and enjoy taking care of plants. I had my own organic garden for many years and also worked for a plant/yard maintenance company for a summer. My husband is good at lawn and yard maintenance as well.
Our one requirement is reliable internet access for our work. If a vehicle is required we can rent or buy one. In the US we maintain a Jeep Wrangler. In Mexico we keep a VW Bug and a scooter.
We look forward to hearing from you. We will consider assignments as short as a few days to as long as several months in the right situation. We'll be happy to answer any questions and discuss options. We have many excellent references that are available on request. We have both been approved for the Global Entry program by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In addition David has had a US Government security clearance.
