If you are looking for a mature and utterly dependable person to house sit for you then please consider my extensive background and experience then send me a reply. I will be happy to chat with you about the possibility of my caring for your home and pet. I retired recently from teaching Geography to high school students in Canada; a career which required me to be organized, flexible and able to manage many evolving situations, and large groups of people. I have solid experience looking after homes and pets(cats and dogs)of other people, as well as currently being a home owner and a carer for my (sometimes borrowed) son’s dog, and until recently my old cat. I have been a pet owner for the last 4 decades. I am also considerably experienced in home maintenance and renovations, skills which have helped me before in house sitting situations. What about me personally, and my travel goals? I live in Guelph, Ontario with my wife, Dianna. My three adult sons visit from time to time. As a physically fit retiree and hiker I have lots of time to travel, but would like to do it with the least cost to me. Housesitting gives me the benefits of being a low-budget traveller and adventure seeker while staying in one place. It also gives me responsibilities beyond the travel experience - something I thrive on. I would be glad to hear from owners who are looking for someone who enjoys responsibility in new situations. Taking care of your home will give me satisfaction beyond any typical travelling experience. If you offer me a house sitting assignment, my expectation is that I would spend some ‘off-duty’ time hiking or exploring cultural landmarks in your region. I also expect to spend time reading and perhaps improving my language skills (where English is not the national language of the place I am visiting). I have an excellent pension, so am not concerned about running out of cash while sitting someone else’s home. I have a Canadian as well as a European passport. My wife will consider house sitting with me if the location and terms are appealing to her. This year I have a particular interest in travelling to Western or southern Europe, although I would also be pleased to hear from owners in many other places, particularly places I have been to before: particularly Scotland (where I was raised as a child), Manhattan, New Orleans or San Francisco (return trips for me). I also would like to hear from owners on the West Coast anywhere between Vancouver Island and San Diego. If you have something outside of these areas, I am still interested, depending upon where it is. I can house/ pet sit for any period up to about four months. Your house doesn't need to be a palace! Simple is good, as long as things work.
