We are responsible and conscientious professionals who have four adult children (two are Nancy's and two are Bill's). We retired from Cornell University in October Since then we have been living in Adelaide Australia. Nancy loves to garden, cook, and read, and was the state Science Program Specialist for 4-H Youth Development. Bill is an electrical engineer who loves gadgets and is great at fixing things, including anything to do with computers.
We love adventure and enjoy traveling out of the country - hiking, snorkeling, walking, bird watching, trying new foods, and historical and cultural sights. We are ready to travel and experience living in new places as part of the local community and not just 'passing through.' House sitting will allow us to have new experiences we wouldn't be able to afford otherwise and have a much more satisfying experience that will be mutually beneficial to us and the home owner.
We haven't been in a position to own pets in our previous long term home and we would love to have the opportunity to love and care for your pets. We are particularly dog lovers, but also enjoy cats. As we have recently retired and have been settled in Adelaide for a year, we have not had an opportunity to house sit, but we have both owned and cared for multiple houses. We have traveled fairly extensively (Europe, Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, U.S., Australia, Japan, Brazil) and are an adventurous couple who would take excellent care of your house and pets.
We met 16 years ago and have been married for 13 years. In 2014 we sold the five-bedroom house we had lived in during that time. We did almost all of our own work on the house and rarely hired any work out. We mowed our own large lawn; cleared our long driveway with a snow blower; did our own exterior and interior painting, electrical work, and plumbing. Bill is an electrical engineer and very handy with fixing things and solving problems. Nancy takes after her father, who was very handy and did all of his own work around the house and built all kinds of things. We have both owned pets; Nancy has always loved animals and has greatly missed having pets. Nancy owned three border collies and a cat while living on a farm (and raised horses, poultry, sheep, cattle, goats, and pigs). When young she had pet hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbit, mice, Springer Spaniel, bird, turtles...
