I am a retired Social Worker. Throughout my career I worked with children who were either born with a disability (primarily autism and mental retardation), or they were at risk for developmental delays. Throughout my career I went into the home and school. In instances where I was working with an adult with developmental disabilities, they typically had a job and I would go to their work site. I would also go into their residential group home. I enjoyed interacting with my clients, with residential staff, families and school personnel.
The last four years I have been pursuing my dream of being a professional writer. I published my first book last December. I have another one scheduled to be published by November and a third to be published in December I have several other projects that I am working on at this time. I also like to relax primarily painting still life. My preferred medium is oils. I just received my first commission to do an ocean theme.
I enjoy pets. Which are "children" to most pet owners. At one time I had four dogs, four cats and two ferrets. As a result of that I am very comfortable watching your animals.
I have had the opportunity of house sitting in the past. Both were for weeks. One involved maintaining a garden, the other a pool.
I grew-up in a home where keeping a clean home was critical. I have carried that attitude with me throughout my life.
I am single and plan to stay that way for at least the near future. I do not smoke. I do not take illegal drugs. I average drinking one glass of wine a week and a six pack of beer approximately every months.
Finally, I enjoy socializing by having friends over for dinner, or going out to dinner and a movie. My primary social outlet is through church. It is rare that I am gone from home for more than half a day.
