We are a reliable, enthusiastic, trustworthy couple in our early 40s. I am originally from the USA (New York) and Laurent is from France.
In 2012, we spent three years traveling south and central America. It was during these years we realized we prefer to travel slower which allows us to really get to know a place. We love travel and want to continue this lifestyle but sometimes miss the stability of having a home and being able to care for a pet. We are both huge animal lovers.
Due to our traveling lifestyle, we cannot own our own pets at the moment. Housesitting, for us, is the perfect marriage of all these things and because we don't have formal jobs or children, we are free to move about when we choose to and care for animals while not being committed to having our own pet.
We are experienced housesitters and I will tell you a little about our experience. In the past, before joining this , we've cared for strangers, friends and family's pets including cats, dogs, prairie dogs, fish and guinea pigs. Laurent owns several properties in France (on Air Bnb) and we both have maintained those properties for renters and so are experienced in all aspects of home maintenence (lawn care, painting, gardening, etc).
Two years ago, for the entire summer, we petsat and housesat and also ran an entire business (a guesthouse) for people we had met while traveling in Colombia. Caring for their yellow labarador, running their business and really getting to know one place made us fully realize that this is what we want to be doing more of and so that provoked us to join this and increase our opportunities.
Last November we had our first "official" housesit using this in Oaxaca, Mexico for one month and loved our experienced caring for a cat.
This past July-November was spent in Colombia running an entire 140 year old house turned BnB, as well as starting and running a bistro onsite. We have reviews both on booking and TripAdvisor attesting to the attention to detail we give.
I used to work as a registered nurse and Laurent was a business owner. We aspire to open our own guesthouse or BnB one day so we would be especially interested in someone who needs people to run their business. We are trustworthy, mature, responsible, do not smoke, and above all are honest and reliable possessing the (rare these days!) common sense.
We are able to handle 'things that come up', we are both good troubleshooters and quite resourceful. Laurent is highly organized and I am very practical which makes us a great team. Between the two of us we speak fluent English, French, Intermediate level Spanish and beginners Portuguese & Italian.
We will look after your pet with the utmost care and attention. We take these assignments very seriously. We are fit and active people who love to go for long walks, so your pet will never be without exercise. Because I was a nurse for 10 years, if your pet has any medical issues, I can comfortably give injections or medications as needed.
We can be in touch with you as little or as much as you need us to be regarding the care of your pet while you are away. We can even send you photos and/or video, if you'd like! Once we commit to an assignment and a date, we make that our number one priority. We don't do cancellations.
I can assure you, you will come home to a house probably cleaner than what you left, a weeded garden, a house properly maintained and a happy, well-loved pet.
