In our early fifties (and non-smokers with references and police check) during 2016 we provided security and peace-of-mind for homeowners for an amazing 335 days! Enjoying a lifestyle change, we love the flexibility and freedom offered by house-sitting. Jason's background is construction (qualified plumbing and heating engineer) while I am a full-time and published author. Because I spend my days writing and researching, a comfortable chair and a good internet connection are vital! Huge cat-lovers, most fur-babies we've cared for seem to enjoy sitting close while I am writing and even in a few cases on my lap! We have also looked after guinea pigs and tropical fish!
House-proud and respectful of the houses we sit, we are also very aware of the security aspect of the role, and in this respect my being present all day in the property has won us some lovely assignments.
We have experience with off-the-grid properties,(solar panels, generators, tank water, bottled gas, septic tank systems) both here and in the Pacific Islands, and some years ago built a home on a lifestyle property, complete with sheep, geese, chickens and a goat - and a big garden. For the last four years though we have been living in - and loving - Auckland's CBD.
