Hello,
I'm Judith. I'm a former lawyer and social worker; I worked for nonprofits for many years. Then I became an independent consultant for nonprofits and other social justice groups and generally worked remotely. I am currently semi-retired.
I was a homeowner in Portland, Oregon, USA for many years and I am familiar with old houses, maintenance and emergencies. I like to garden (vegetable and perennial), paint, go thrift shopping, cooking, and traveling. I'm also trying to write a book about solo women travelers.
I just returned from six months of solo traveling in the United Kingdom and Europe. It started with a Workaway assignment as a chef/cook in southwest France. Then I did petsitting exclusively in England and Scotland (Trusted Housesitter; s:// and received 5 star reviews. I did two HomeExchanges in France, and stayed in a monastery/convent. Each experience taught me to be flexible and resilient, no matter the situation.
I prefer longer sits (more than 2 weeks), particularly if I need to travel. I'm based in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, but my passport is well used and I'm always packed ready to go.
I like dogs. I can't do big dogs (unless they are really well trained) because I'm very petite and would have trouble holding back a 100 pound dog that wants to run after something or engage in anti-social behavior. My own dog (now long passed) was a 90 pound Border Collie/Australian Shepherd but was as gentle as he could be. I love Border Collies and other herding dogs.
I love cats, of all kinds. My most recent experience living with cats was a pair of Maine Coons. I was a good human servant to them. My first cat as an adult was a beautiful 16 pound Russian Blue. I have learned independence and dignity from cats.
I hope you will consider me for your next housesitting need.
