Angus and I left busy lives in London - he's a journalist and I am a French to English translator - and moved to France 12 years ago.
We bought and restored a large old-beamed house with a walled orchard garden which we ran as a busy B&B with guests from all over the world. A wide variety of cats, dogs rabbits (and even a stunning very vocal and naturally inquisitive Cockatoo that mastered a smattering of overheard French!) were entrusted to our care while their owners continued their holiday without having to worry about them. Our B&B is still on the at janiesplace , and please do have a look!
Jane is an enthusiastic and skilled organic gardener. She happily nearly an acre of orchard trees, vegetables and flower beds and we served fresh fruit and vegetables through out the summer.
We each had to be fully vetted by the French authorities and the police so we have full security clearance.
Having sold our business we decided to travel and part of the fun is that we get to meet such a mixed bunch of people with different outlooks, skills who are generally a delight to be with in addition to the joys of ever-changing landscapes, climate and culture.
Taking care of other houses is an obligation of trust to us. Equally meeting owners who lead different, and often fascinating lives is a real buzz and some become firm friends.
We both firmly believe that animals can be so life enhancing in terms of company, humour and companionship! Our menageries have included dogs (from setters to Afghans to terriers) and Angus has owned and looked after a whole spectrum of felines from plain but adorable moggies to more sophisti-cats such as Burmese and Siamese. And I love horses!
We have many letters of reference in our files and I will be happy to send them to you on your , together with the addresses of our former house-holders!
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
