Newly retired, we are interested in quietly travelling and exploring your area. We enjoy country hikes, city walks, new sights, local restaurants, fun adventures, and being a part of real life. The two of us bring hands on abilities and management skills that include abilities with people, animals, buildings, facilities, vehicles (basic maintenance), business facilitation, and common sense in dealing with any issues that might arise. We are honest, loyal and trustworthy. We are non-smokers and socially enjoy wine. We will take care of your animals, your home, your plants and do our best to maintain life while you are away as if you were never gone. We will need to bring our small Coton de Tulear dog, Piper. Piper is well-behaved; loves other dogs and cats; is hypo-allergenic and non-shedding, only barks when someone knocks on the door; is well-socialized to children and adults; and has never caused damage. We'd love to discuss your needs and whether we might be a good fit. Please your interest and any questions you may have. We can provide excellent work and personal references.
Why we want to house sit
Our intentions are to become a part of local communities as we travel the world. We will need to keep our costs reasonable so that we can continue our explorations for as long as we enjoy our experiences (possibly several years). If we enjoy an area, we may want to return on future opportunities. We hope to make friends within each area and possibly in the future they will want to visit us wherever our wandering takes us.
What we bring to the assignment / relevant experience
I can bring 25 years of being the sole proprietor of a mental health counseling practice that has allowed me to work with differing personalities having many different life issues. Prior to that I was an educator in the public school system. As a youth, I was raised on a working farm and was accustomed to an outdoor lifestyle with family traditions and solid work ethics. My husband, Phil, has worked for the State of Oregon for 31 years developing skills that include management of employees; buildings (including plumbing, electrical, and structural); public relations; grounds (several acres); fish production and distribution; budget; business correspondence; record keeping; facility development and construction; volunteers; reports; inter-agency cooperation; working with sub-contractors and bids; overseeing safety and environmental reports; facilitating response during local crisis (fires, snowstorms, search and rescue or emergency first aid; animal injuries; etc.) and has developed problem-solving skills that encompass most hands-on situations. Between the two of us, we believe we can successfully accomplish the day to day tasks and navigate most crisis situations that might arise. We can use common sense to set priorities. We are calm; honest; caring; friendly; loyal; dedicated to learning and evolving; and can be trusted. We will bring good attitudes, curiosity, and an open-minded philosophy. We hope to develop working partnerships with anyone we make arrangements to help. In return, we hope you will share your knowledge and home with us.
