Hi there! My name is Lori and I am 48 yrs young from Virginia, USA. I have 3 grown children and am the "Nana" of 4 amazing grandbabies and I have 2 more on the way! I have always loved traveling but it proved too difficult to do much being a single/widowed mom of 3 kids, but now that all of my children are on their own and raising their own families, I decided it was time that Mom ran away from home! So I have sold/given away all of my worldly goods, down-sized my life to fit into a couple of suitcases and have begun my wonderful new adventure of a nomadic lifestyle as a house/pet sitter around the globe!
A LITTLE ABOUT ME:
~I am a 48 year old single woman from the USA. I am a non-smoker, a very light drinker(occasional glass of wine) and have never touched recreational drugs and only take prescription drugs if I have too. I prefer living a holistic lifestyle if I can. I am an artist/illustrator and the Art Director for a small, hybrid book publisher and I work from my computer or tablet and can work from anywhere as long as I have reasonable access to the internet/WIFI (even if I have to walk to the nearest village for WIFI).I am college educated and I worked in the main sector for various companies for many years and from that
experience I know I am very capable, self-reliant, flexible, adaptable and reliable, and well used to responsibility, problem solving and decision making. I am mature, honest, trustworthy, conscientious, clean and take any responsibilities extremely seriously. From being a single/widowed mom of 3 children I learned to adapt to any situation, be good in a crisis, handle any stress and can handle those little (or sometimes big) surprises that life, at times, likes to throw at us. I am hard working, a problem solver and from being that single mom, became very good at fixing anything that's broke so I am very capable of doing light maintenance around your home as needed (within reason of course, if your house needs a complete plumbing redo, I am probably not your girl. lol But, I am pretty handy around the house if I do say so myself. :) Above all, I am kind and caring and believe that what you put out into the universe you get back ten fold so I believe that by always being kind and caring to others, to animals, to life, I am living life the way it is meant to be lived.
***I get asked a lot about why I house sit on my own and if I would be okay staying at homes that are secluded and off the grid a bit. Yes! I am absolutely okay with that and prefer it most of the time, although an inner city or suburbs house sit is great too on occasion, but I love my quiet and solitude and grab it when I can. I am an artist and love being able to sit in a quiet space and just paint or draw or sculpt, so being on my own creating my art is my happy place!
My Experience
I have sat for several people (most longer term sits) and have built up a list of excellent references/recommndations and experience. I can handle anything house/pet sitting throws my way. From house sitting for various kinds of people and caring for my own homes, I have learned throughout the years that everyone has their own way of doing things, of taking care of their home, of taking care of their pets and I have learned to respect the ways other people live their lives and run their homes. I take great pride in making the house/pet sitting experience as low stress and as unintrusive as possible. I do have references available via .
I have recently become an avid gardener and even though I am a bit of a beginner and am still learning, I have come to realize I actually have quite a green thumb and really enjoy working outside in the yard so your garden(s) and yard will be taken care of with much love and enthusiasm.
~I adore animals of all kinds, well except snakes, spiders and sharks, so if you have any of those as pets it probably wouldn't work out as I would spend the entire time on top of your refrigerator terrified. :) But any other kinds of animals and I will probably end up falling in love with them by the time I leave and that is the hardest part of this lifestyle, but well worth it! I have had experience in one form or another with all sorts of cats and dogs including a singing cat (ask me about Chloe the 26 pound singing cat sometime...she was my 'little' love), chickens, pigs, cows/cattle, horses, goats, mules/donkeys, ducks and geese and a variety of other types of birds and farm animals. My children and I had pets throughout both my childhood and theirs which included everything from cats, dogs, bunnies, hamsters, mice, rats (Yes, rats! They are actually quite lovely pets to have), birds, fish, lizards, frogs, turtles, and the occasional stray animal that my oldest daughter would bring home which was quite often which we would get h
