It's true, we really do care! We're new to Housecarers but we love housesitting. Even more importantly perhaps, we've invited strangers into our home too so we understand your perspective and concerns. We're clean and tidy, respectful of your privacy and belongings, and looking forward to experiencing other communities and cultures from the inside out. We know it's a privilege that you share your home with us and put your trust in us, so we don't take that for granted.
We have always received great positive reviews from home owners after house- or pet-sitting. We have even been invited back by a couple in California with 5 cats. We have had some furry family members of our own: a springer spaniel, a Sianese and a black and white moggie. Sadly two are long gone, but one lives at the beach with my parents enjoying his retirement. We miss having pets as part of our family, but we are fortunate to be able to give love to other people's animals on a short term basis by doing this. I can promise there would be no lack of care, walks or cuddles for your pets or other animals.
We had a beautiful colour-filled patio garden in Spain that we miss greatly, but no longer have a garden of our own now we are in Germany. We'd be delighted to take care of your garden and plants though.
I am British and an event planner, and my husband is American and a teacher of Latin and English. Oliver (5) was born in Spain, Ben (2) was born in Germany. I work online for a non-profit global friendship organization called Friendship Force as a conference planner, and my husband is a Latin and English teacher. We are planning a round-the-globe housesit year for 2017 as we both work online and are eager to expose our children to different types of homes and cultures, so we prefer housesits of at least 3 weeks if possible.
We all love the outdoors, swimming, walking, reading and drawing. As I type, my five year old is writing a book about seals; my two year old is watching a jay out the window and begging me for a trip to the park. These children are thoughtful, gentle souls, and part of what we love about the housesitting experience is how they have learned from an early age to treat other people's belongings with respect. I mention this because I understand some people are curious about how a housesit works with children. The answer is, very well! Our children are used to this way of life. This summer our family of four was housesitting in Wimbledon and the owner remarked on her return that she couldn't tell we had ever been there. Of course you may speak to her and all our references by phone or .
We are non-smokers and hold a British drivers license. We speak English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish and a little Greek. We've lived for at least a year at a time in the UK, USA, Japan, Germany, France and Spain.
Please enjoy your travels in peace, knowing that your home is in good hands.
Debbie, Blake, Oliver and Ben
