I believe animals need love and respect, just as humans do. As a child, my family had rabbits, a bird, goldfish, cats, dogs, and temporarily, one horse. For a long time, as an adult, I was the paid house sitter and animal care taker of choice for coworkers and family members. I have had a number of house sitting jobs, averaging two weeks in length, during which I cared for chickens, cats, dogs, and plants. I took a break from house sitting gigs for a number of years and am now back at it. My profile lists a few specific towns just so that I will show up in specific searches, but I am willing to sit almost anywhere.
I always treat people's homes as I would want them to treat mine. I will protect your house, and do everything you ask, exactly as you ask, to the best of my ability. I will also aim to be sure you return to a tidy home so that you have a soft landing spot and fewer to-do's to worry with.
I work remotely for a small start-up, which gives me the freedom to work almost anywhere there is WiFi. I am interested in house sitting for the experience of traveling and the opportunity to love on some animals. In exchange for my services, I request that home owners provide internet and utlities.
I enjoy interviewing people, editing audio projects, meeting new people, reading, seeing opera and attending church.
I currently have a house sit at least until mid-July. I hope to plan in advance so feel free to let me know if you need a sitter this Fall or next year.
ps. I am dressed up in my main photo, but that doesn't fully reflect who I am. That's just the best recent photo I can find right now. I'm frequently a casual kind of girl. I can easily scoop poop, clean litter boxes and walk dogs.
Below is a reference from one of my house sitting jobs done for a coworker.
"We are so fortunate to have had Daytha care for our home and pets on a number of occasions. Her excellent communication, integrity, and kind heart are always appreciated. While staying in our home, she managed watering our lawn and garden, tending to our small backyard chicken flock, and caring for our large dog and older cats. Daytha has a warm, calm demeanor that immediately set our animals at ease. When issues would arise, she communicated in a clear, timely way and then acted with our advice. I recommend her without reservation. With Daytha, your home and pets are in the best of hands. - Christian Gold Stagg"
Here is another reference from a longterm friend. She is busy with two toddlers so she combined an and a house sitting reference into one.
"I have known Daytha for over 15 years. She is conscientious, responsible, and honest. While I stuffer from perpetual lateness, Daytha is punctual and always considerate of my time. She has taken care of our house a few times. I would trust her to do it again and certainly recommend her as a potential house sitter. - Rosie"
