I'm a single Norwegian woman who loves to travel and I'm very interested in other people and cultures, so this is my main reason for joining House Carers. I absolutely adore France and Provence in particular - but would love to explore other countries as well. Italy is a country I visisted for the first time in the summer of 2017 together with my adult son (we drove from Nice to Tuscany and loved it!), and I did a house-sit in Venice in August 2018, which was wonderful, - so I'm hoping that there might eventually be house sitting opportunities in all of these countries, - but anywhere in Europe would be great, really. I've been to Rhodes / Greece once, and that was also wonderful! Barcelona is on my bucket list, in case any opportunity should come up there! :) I also want to explore other parts of the world, but since I'm currently in a day job with only a few weeks here and there to spend on house-sitting, going to house-sit too far away is not very practical right now. My preferred destination this autumn is Provence.
My native language is Norwegian, but I'm quite fluent in French and English, and also speak German, Swedish and a little bit of Kurdish (I've visited Kurdistan in Iraq twice, and felt privilegded to be able to visit with friends and therefor live as a native, rather than "just being a tourist", which is what I prefer). I can also speak a few words of Italian and Spanish.
I love to read, watch films, visit galleries and museums, explore small villages and the countryside, and I love to play tennis, mini-golf, table-tennis, pool, darts, - in short: Have fun with family and friends, cook a meal together, share good conversations and a laugh ... perhaps try some horseback riding, walk a dog ... enjoy life!
I'm very creative, and have been doing wicker-work for some time and also given courses, and love to visit artists and crafts-people in other countries whenever there's an opportunity. I also love to write, and even though I'm a very social person, I love to spend some time alone and write and reflect upon life, so house-sitting in a foreign country is something I would love to do, since it would give me the opportunity to be on my own as well as go on new adventures.
I'm currently working on a business-project online, hoping to be able to have my own online business before long, and in that way be able to work from anywhere in the world. I'm a freelance writer & photographer, I have an interior decorating education, and I'm also a lifestyle coach. I'm all for love, peace and understanding and want to make a positive difference in this world, and I believe that travelling is the best education of all.
I love dogs, and don't mind looking after one and taking it out on daily walks, but I must admit that I would prefer it if the house-sitting did not involve looking after pets, but rather some maintenance of house and garden, looking after an outlet, or similar. I have worked as a receptionist in a hotel earlier and I'm good at welcoming guests and making them feel welcome, and I know how to prepare a room for new guests, etc - so looking after a B&B, outlet or something like that, is something I'm perfectly capable of. I have also been a house-owner with a garden, so I know quite a lot about house and garden and what needs to be done on a regular basis. But don't misunderstand me: If there IS a pet to look after, I will take good care of it and love it, too. :) I love animals, especially dogs and horses, but frankly, I'm a bit allergic to cats, but I will give them all my love and care, for sure, if that's something you need.
I can be available for housesitting this autumn from mid-October, as far as I know (flexible dates). Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I would love to hear from you! I'm currently not in a regular job because of a cut in staff at my last job (I worked for the local municipality as a social worker for refugees) but like I mentioned, I'm currently working on an online business which I hope will eventually make me even more flexible and available to house sitting.
Hope to see some of you! :)
