Introduction
I am a mature retired physiotherapist who owns a cottage and acreage on the Pacific Ocean and I love animals. While I have only recently retired from my private physiotherapy practice after thirty years of living and working in a small community on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada, I have already enjoyed wonderful house and pet-sitting experiences in Dubai, New Zealand, San Francisco and Nevis.
As I am retired I am available on relatively short notice and I am happy to book in advance.
I have a Canadian Criminal Record check from the RCMP amd a recent BackCheck which I needed for a GirlGuide organisation. Never do I invite anyone into the owner's home and I do not post anything about the homeowner, their home, or pets on any social media. Nor would I ever stay away from the home and pets overnight. In short, you can trust me.
Relevant Experience
As a homeowner and a retired physiotherapist, I am mature and professional. I am accustomed to making decisions and dealing with all issues that may arise. Indeed, my home and acreage has its own well water, septic system, and ocean shoreline that need care. I have several skills required by my rural acreage life.
I have a First Aid for Dogs Certificate and I am extremely meticulous about the care that I provide for pets that are entrusted to my care.
To ensure a smooth ‘hand-over’ I have a check-list that the homeowner and I can use to ensure that all possible contingencies are covered in the eventuality of any unforeseen issues. I excel at making decisions and taking charge when required – skills I developed by operating my own Physiotherapy business for over 30 years.
I am tidy, a non-smoker, non-drinker, good with plants, have a clean driving record and treat homeowner's homes, cars, bicycles, etc. even better than I would my own. It gives me pleasure to be able to offer my services to ensure that my home owners enjoy their own travel experiences and that they can be assured that I will care for their pets.
I send photos and regular updates to homeowners about their pets and I am more than willing to be d so that pets can be seen by their 'mum' and/or 'dad'.
Why I Want to House Sit
I have been a dog owner all my life but cared for 2 wonderful cats in San Francisco and in Nevis. Of course I would not leave Sophie, my mixed Golden lab Mexican rescue dog, without ensuring that she is receiving the best of care while I travel so I understand the needs of other pet owners. It is my pleasure to “pay-it-forward” by ensuring that other travelers are also able to enjot have stress-free travel. I love to travel and wish to live as a member of the communities that I visit rather than be a ‘tourist’ using hotels. House-sitting is my best way to experience local culture and I am able to give homeowners ‘peace of mind’ knowing that their homes are being taken care of and their family pets are well-loved while they travel.
