We are Ethan and Wynd
Nice to meet!
We work from home (web development/graphic design) and enjoy creative projects like sewing and crafting.
The past four years we traveled while stewarding houses and homesteads throughout California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Colorado ranging in size from artist studio to large farms and ranches on acres with many animal responsibilities.
We enjoy cleaning and being well organized.
Interested in having us maintain your home and ensure the comfort of your pets while you are traveling? Feel free to contact us for our current availability schedule. We typically receive multiple return house-sit requests, so we do our best to accommodate within our schedule.
While house-sitting, we work on creative projects. A few seasons ago, we spent 4+ months in Guatemala / Central America living among locals who hand weave fabric which inspired us to learn how to sew clothes, bags, etc.
We enjoy living near nature and 'home economics' with a creative flare.
We love to ensure your home is well-attended and we truly enjoy the responsibility of caring for animals. Stewarding living spaces is fun and enjoyable for us.
We are naturally home bodies, being able to earn a living virtually. Still in search of our own home, our passion lies in being of service to other home owners filling in while they are away and creating the space to trust that their house is in good hands.
We have already bought and sold our 1st house, a traditional mongolian yurt, that currently resides at its final home in Southern Oregon. We sold it in search of warmer weather, and a year round outdoor growing environment so that Wynd can garden outside year round - her main passion.
The ability to network and create new contacts is very valuable to us, and house-sitting allows us to reach out and spend time meeting new people in locations that we may have passed by.
The experiences and ideas gained via caretaking home sanctuaries inspires our everyday lifestyle elements (architecture, artwork, interior design, etc.) We have learned a lot about efficient ways to create and maintain living spaces which we plan to incorporate into our own bed and breakfast style property when we decide 'retire' from traveling.
Our lifestyle is a permanent working vacation.
We are experienced professional house-cleaners.
Here are some care-taking exchanges we experienced:
Stewarded (land managers) for the 20 acre Ojai Hot Springs in Matilija Canyon, Ojai, CA for six months while living in our Mongolian yurt.
Summer of 2015 we house-sat for five different homes with pets throughout Colorado. One caretaking exchange involved flood restoration landscaping and management of a river-front vacation rental that rents for over $300/night (two months while owner traveled).
We lived off grid and assisted friends to develop their raw land (developing water infrastructure, chainsawing timber, constructing trails, rock work etc.).
Spring, Summer and Fall of 2016 we continued with multiple repeat house-sits, including a ranch on the Oregon coast, a homestead in the Puget sound, Portland-area houses, Southern California homes, and a several properties throughout Colorado.
We love animals and have experience with cats, dogs, horses, chickens, and goats to name a few.
We are experienced gardeners and spent a few years together volunteering on organic farms across North America learning the many ways of farming and naturally developing land. We have lived at and visited many intentional living communities. Also, lots of experience with permaculture.
