After more than 26 years of marriage we have decided to start a new chapter in our lives, where we have sold our home and are embarking on a journey to see as much of the world as we can.
We want to experience new places, not as a tourist, but more like locals, and house sitting will give us that homey feel while experiencing new locations. We enjoy both the hustle and bustle of city life as well as the peace and solitude of rural living. We are both avid walkers, which would ensure your pets would get their daily exercise.
For the majority of our married life we have owned and maintained our own home, while raising our two children, and various pets ranging from cats, dogs, hamsters and fish.
During the first few years of our relationship we helped Derek’s father with the management and running of his smallholding where he grew flowers for the commercial flower market.
Over the past few years Joanne has raised two children, worked in various jobs from Doctors and veterinary reception to nursery school teacher and finally university student.
Derek started his working career in the retail field, moving on to owning his own garden maintenance service and finally spending the past 13 years in the demining field, where he has spent the majority of his time in South Sudan, where he was an Operations/Project Manager coordinating and managing the clearing of landmines. He is a qualified dog handler that worked with mine detection dogs.
