Enjoy historic Savannah GA and beautiful Tybee Island
We are looking for a responsible house sitter from approximately May 16, 2022 to June 12, 2022, though we can be a bit flexible. We have a small, modest home and few requirements - normal household duties, maintain a small lawn with a newish lawnmower that actually starts, and take in the mail and help us keep up with what isn't junkmail. We have an outdoor-only "community cat" named Freckles who is fed twice a day. That's it!
We live two miles from the downtown Savannah historic district, and ten miles from the wonderful beaches of Tybee Island. Our home has no TV, cable or internet, though the house is wired for cable and you could have it connected if this were important to you. You can live here at no cost, with one provision: we keep our AC set to 75 degrees as recommended by our power company. Lower settings make it hard for our AC to keep up, and higher settings tend to cause mildew in our humid summers.
In case of a huge hurricane, we expect you to follow the advice of forecasters and local administration. We've never needed to evacuate so far, but if this is necessary, we ask that you put up the plywood storm panels over the windows and we'll pay you for this if it becomes necessary - they haven't been used since they were built in but you never know.
While we live on a residential cul-de-sac, we are still near the center of a vibrant city - the dining room side of the house faces a neighborhood through street, and you'll hear traffic and sometimes the fire engines. This ain't the country! We're close to a convenience store (good fried chicken!) and a Dollar General is near by. A bus stop is five blocks away as is a tienda Mexicana and a package store. Our unhappy 2019 house sitter was upset about mosquitos so here's full disclosure: mosquitos live in the Southeast! Everywhere!
Ours is a smoke free house, and drug free as well - no exceptions. Our neighbors are not unreasonably noisy, and they expect the same from you. We have an active Neighborhood Watch, so we'll be sure to let them know you will be staying in our home.
