I aspire to care for your home and pets in the same way you would. Your instructions are important to me and I enjoy following through to make sure tasks and especially animal feeding and caretaking are done on your set schedule.
I'm quite comfortable with house sitting jobs in all sorts of places including cities, but my first choice is usually for more rural/remote locations or smaller towns. I love animals (dogs, cats, goats, chickens, horses, etc.). For my profile, I listed Portland because I'm on an assignment in Oregon. When I'm not traveling, my "home-base" is in the DC area with extended family. I have a car and if you need your vehicles run, I drive manual transmission and can manage trucks, mowers and some other equipment.
House sitting is a wonderful way to travel, meet people and enjoy quality animal-time. I'm fortunate to have so much flexibility because I work for an international NGO with staff distributed in more than a dozen countries -- all I need is reliable, fairly fast internet. Check out Sustainable Fisheries Partnership at sustainablefish for more about where I work.
Over the years, I've lived in and cared for homes and pets in many locations including those listed below. I don't own any animals right now, but my special dog, Stella, was with me for 15 years. I've also had some lovely cats and laying hens and while I'm not an expert equestrian, I'm comfortable caring for horses and able to exercise them if needed. I also enjoy caring for indoor plants and outdoor landscape or vegetable gardens.
