California Gold Country housesitting/petsitting in July
Organic garden -- musician-friendly house -- small town.
We need someone to care for Shadow, a 3-year-old black golden doodle, while we spend a weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area..
The sitter would also care for our small three-bedroom house and garden in the heart of San Andreas, a historic town in Calaveras County in the Mother Lode. (Calaveras County is the place made famous by Mark Twain's fictional tale about gambling on frogs.) We are close to excellent hiking, including day trips to the high Sierra, the Pacific Crest Trail and Yosemite National Park. House is also close to several foothill wine regions (Murphys, Shenendoah area in Amador County, etc.)
Kitchen is well equipped for those who enjoy cooking. We have a gas grill on the back deck.
Garden is on a timer-controlled drip irrigation system, so upkeep is minimal in the summer Garden is organic and just three small raised beds but plenty prolific for a couple. Sitters might need to do some hand work to kill squash bugs.
Shadow is an active dog and likes walks or jogs through the neighborhood and also to go on hikes. She is affectionate and companionable. She sleeps in the house with us, though not on the bed.
We have hammocks for the covered back deck. Home is a very tight SIP construction done in 2008 but looks like a 1920s-era foothills Craftsman-style bungalow. We have a piano, celtic harp and other instruments. Musicians welcome. House is very quiet and well suited also for meditation, writing, etc. Weather can be hot in the summerr, but we have air conditioning and the previously mentioned shady back deck.
If you have a ham radio license then you can use our 2-meter antenna and 50-watt transceiver.
