We are a married couple with a shared background in International Health and Development. Individually, my husband is a retired Diplomat (U.S. Government) and I am a Social-Cultural Anthropologist/Educator. We have lived and worked all over the world throughout our careers and value meeting new people, enjoying diverse cultures, and getting to know new places and gain new insights through those who have lived their lives there. Our home base is just outside of Washington, DC. We have had home sitters in our home and we also love being home sitters because it is an opportunity to assist homeowners who need to go somewhere but want to know their property and pets are safe and secure. Home-sitting allows us to feel we are living in the community and getting to know it as others living there do. It is also a way for us to assist homeowners who want conscientious and reliable persons taking care of their homes.
We love traveling and meeting people with diverse perspectives. We enjoy reading, urban sketching, sailing, natural beauty, and exploring new places, and finding ways wherever we are to give of ourselves. We love animals and feel they are a true and wonderful joy! Unfortunately, we lost our two Golden Retrievers (Rumi and Shane) to cancer in As such, we take every opportunity to cuddle others dogs and cats! Both of us love walking dogs, playing with them, and enjoying their company. We have also had wonderful cats: Chole', Shams, and Hannah Lily were our darlings! Like our dogs, they were our children and those who also love animals know what it is like to feel this way.
My husband also like to sail whenever he has the opportunity. We have had some great sails in different parts of the world and hope for more in the future. I enjoy writing and publishing and teaching literacy, believing that reading is a transformative experience that everyone deserves to claim. We like long walks, swimming, and the sea.
We are honest, straight forward, and respectful. We will take care of your home and pets as it were our own. Having had home and pet sitters ourselves, we know how vital it is to trust and feel that you have the right persons in your home. We will not disappoint. We are active and happy and most of all, very grateful for the opportunities that we have had throughout our lives. We believe in "paying it forward" because you cannot have what you are unwilling to give. We have references around the world who would be willing to speak to you on our behalf - please don't hesitate to ask.
