Our house is in a beautiful part of North Dordogne in a small hamlet. The nearest ameneties (baker, couple of restaurants/bars, butcher, convenience store) is a 10 minute drive away. Bakers also closer in surrounding hamlets. Having a car is a must here (we do not have one to use).
Closeby are wonderful places such as Brantome, Perigueux, Nontron, Bourdeilles, Saint Jean de Cole....the list goes on. Just driving around you can't help but see such amazing sights.
We enjoy biking around this area also.
Our home is an old property with a simple garden (no grass) and pool (covered during winter months). We have no pets.
We are teachers (Julie from the UK, Alan from the USA) living in China and we think its a shame that our holiday house sits empty for so long between our visits and summer renters.
The last 2 winters we have been able to offer local residents the space as they renovate their own places and this has been a great mutal benefit.
Our house is well renovated but, being old, there are some odd jobs that could do with being done if someone was handy.
Apparently it gets cold here in winter! We have just had double glazing installed throughout which I'm sure will make a difference. We also have a log burner in the lounge and there are electric, wall mounted radiators throughout.
There is internet connection and freeview English TV.
A house is a home and should be cared for - that is what we are looking for.
The timeframes we have suggested are flexible actually - this is just a guideline as the house will simply sit empty all winter.
We look forward to hearing from you.
