My name is Rachael, and my partner Casey and I are both Wildlife professionals looking for homes and critters in need of care while I study to go back to Graduate school. We are both experienced house sitters, love animals, and love having a home to retreat to that we can temporarily call our own. We are both handy, good with gardens, and are known for our dependability and responsibility. We promise to care for your home and critters with love and respect. Once you go Rae an Case for your house sitting needs, you never go back :) Ask our other house sit family!
I graduated from the University of Washington a few years ago, and have since been working on gathering as much biological field experience as I can before applying to graduate school. Casey is a wildlife tracker and biologist whose work requires him to travel a lot, so with both of us always on the move, we have fallen in love with housesitting! It has also been the source of great friendships in our lives as we are now very close to the couple we house sit for in New Mexico.
Housesitting allows me to work jobs in wildlife that pay primarily in experience, not sallary. It also allows me the space to study and focus, which is particularly important to me right now as I prepare for graduate school. I am a quiet homebody who enjoys organization, cleanliness, and a place to call my own, (I'm getting too old to live with 5 other folks my age, as fond as I am of those memories). It also allows me to live with animals, something I adore, and to sometimes have and maintain a garden.
Currently, Casey and I house sit for a wonderful couple in Corrales, New Mexico from the months of June - September, (coming up on 4 years now) and Casey has house sat for friends of this couple as well. Additionally, I have house sat for several biologists while working in Alpine, AZ. In Corrales we are responsible for garden care, some basic landscaping, composting, general maintenance and upkeep due to weather and/or the needs of the home, (an older adobe). These homeowners take their dogs with them while traveling, but Casey and I are both animal lovers, and both work with them on a regular basis.
I have some experience with horses and cattle as well, as most of my work has been with carnivore management. Casey can fix just about anything, (I've seen it) and we are both quiet, reliable, and responsible folks. We will be there when you call, always.
I have always loved animals, and have both my Wilderness First Responder training and have collared and released over thirty wolves, dealing with several emergencies that make me a great candidate to take care of your four-legged buddies.
Additionally, I have experience nannying a stellar little two-year old, which, although I doubt you will be leaving us your children, taught me a ton about the responsibility involved in caring for someone, (some pet I should say) who is dependent on you. Being a nanny improved my experience with my family dogs and taught me how to prioritize and schedule the needs of others into my own schedule.
We hope to be the housesitters for you, and would love to hear about what you are looking for.
