My name is Maryanne and I am a professional writer and researcher who began housesitting during a sabbatical leave from my university position in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and I have continued to travel and housesit now in retirement. I am a dual Canadian/Irish citizen, very fond of cats and well-disposed to dogs. I speak French and German fluently and I'm friendly, personable, and competent--ideal traits in a housesitter!
I am new to this site, but I have an active profile with 23 five-star reviews on a similar network, which you may find on the web at goo.gl/y8mgRk
So far in my housesitting adventures, I've cared for homes in six countries and tended to dozens of multilingual cats and five delightful dogs who taught me the finer points of off-leash etiquette as well as advanced leash-walking and ball-throwing technique. I love all cats unconditionally and I like every individual dog I've ever met--particularly a couple cool dogs I know who had pianos. (How's that for a paraphrase of Cat Person Who Likes Dogs?)
I am careful and meticulous with maintenance and repairs, and I am committed to energy conservation in the home. I am active and energetic, a non-drinker and non-smoker, an enthusiastic gardener, and a keen walker and cyclist. I've often minded homes and pets for friends on vacation over the years, and never met with an incident I didn't handle successfully. I'm very conscientious about carrying out owners' instructions for care of their particular pets - and I'm every pet's ideal indulgent aunt!
