Long term sit of about seven to eight months at a tropical Nicaragua Lodge. The lodge is twenty minutes from Granada. Looking for a handy, hardy couple to sit our house near the Lodge and meet and greet guests from all over the world for the four-cabin eco-lodge. It is the slow season so not very many bookings and plenty of time off. The general maintenance, room preparation/cleaning at the lodge and the cooking is done by our trained and motivated staff. You will need to be present when guests are there to deal with them since the staff’s English is limited.
Some basic Spanish as well as English speaking is necessary so you can communicate with the staff and shop for guest meals. Ninty percent of our guests are from USA, Canada and Europe and few speak Spanish.
Reservations and pre-arrival tasks, guest meal selections and a shopping list will be done for you and sent to you to in advance of guest arrival to share with the staff and plan the shopping. You will shop for food in Granada meet guests and check them in and out, collect the money and deal with any issues they may have while at the Lodge (there are generally none to very few). It is necessary for you to be on site when guests are present. This will be at most 30 percent of the time.
You will need to be in frequent contact with me to get booking information and for you to advise of any issues, or just things on the mountain in general.
The Lodge is in a great location 1600 feet above sea level in a tropical forest setting on Mombacho volcano adjacent to a nature reserve, yet close to the city of Granada where you will find all the services you need. The house is close to the lodge so you will have your own private space. Water, electric included. The employees at the lodge are all long term and will help you if you need them to. A vehicle is provided for your use.
The house and lodge are off grid, so while you have electricity and water it does require some adjustment in thinking about how you live. For instance, there are nice hot water showers are in the house and lodge cabins, but you have to limit the time you spend soaking as water is precious. There is internet for and browsing the net, but not fast enough for streaming. You need to be comfortable living in a secluded (but not really remote place), being present when guests are there and having the ability to deal with them and committed to staying for the duration. Ends December 1, 2018…possible longer arrangement towards end of the current site.
