About us: We are 65 and 75 and have been retired for a while. My husband is an owner of an IT company and I retired from corporate america as a business/contracts manager of very large goverment contracts. We both worked as contractors to the federal government. We are parents to grown sons and have two granddaughters. We are both active in philanthropic areas-my husband serves on two charity boards and we support many organizations. We are occasional golfers, exercise focused and are non-smokers. We LOVE to travel. I lived in Livorno Italy as a girl and hence my love for travel--and we do!
Why we want to HouseSit-- I just read an article in the WSJ this morning about housesitting. I had NO idea. It sounds like a great way to travel and to give back a little something in exchange. Win/Win for everyone.
Our Experience-None--but since we own two homes and are quite familiar with all the things that can go wrong with houses and how to identify problems, I think we are well equipped to help. While I use a cleaning woman in both of my homes, I do a lot of my own detail cleaning. I love to cook and a putter in the garden as well. My husband is an electrical engineer by training and quite smart about all things computer related and electronics. We are quite the team! While we do like animals, we really can only housesit for non-shedding dogs.
What do we bring to a job--Dedication and detail and commitment. I have a very high bar for excellence and I expect that from myself as well as others. I am a detail person, I am a warm and genuine. I also speak Italian--understand it better than speak it (currently working on improving that). My husband understands French and can speak a little.
