Dear friends,
My daughter and I look forward to looking after your home while you are away. To be sure, your confidence is important, so I share the following. I have been a teacher for 34 years from New York City to Mexico, Spain, Germany and China. I have been responsible for the well-being of hundreds of students over the years and this sense of responsibility will extend to your home. Beyond my profession, I am a father and husband and understand quite well the workings of a household and how to keep it tidy. My daughter would be the first one to say that I am very neat; I like cleanliness and things in their place. My hobbies include reading, running, cinema, and being with my family. My daughter was just admitted to McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She is mature, studious and supremely responsible. This is our opportunity to spend time together before she begins her university studies and I think it is fair to say that we will do justice to the responsibility that you entrust us with. Rachel is a voracious reader, quite the chef, an artist (she has her own online sculpting business) and a film buff. We are both very experienced travelers and enjoy the experience of being immersed in the local culture.
I have been a homeowner and understand full well the sentiments that are woven into the environment of a person's home. This is something I respect and value. May I add that as a retired teacher, the qualities that I have looked to model in my students play a role in house sitting -- respect for the rights and person of an individual and the environment he/she moves in. Additionally, knowledge of a setting is the key to navigating it in a mindful fashion. Indeed, I have been a Social Studies teacher for many years. I bring this to your home.
Both myself and my daughter are experienced pet owners - dogs especially, but we have additional experience with fish, birds, cats and reptiles (a turtle).
Thanks. I hope to hear from you soon. Peter
