We are looking for house/pet sitters to care for our home and animals over the Christmas / New Year period. We have 4 dogs - 2 x labradors, 1 x golden retriever, 1 x jack russell / poodle cross - all getting on in years now years) but love their daily walks. Our 3 cats (2 short hair, 1 long hair) are principally inside cats - 2 of them like to have a wander outside of an afternoon when we return from work, but they are always inside at night and during the day. The cats are pretty much low maintenance as long as some ear rubs and cuddles are available.
Ormeau is half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We have a nearby railway station that provides easy access into the city or down to the coast. We are approximatley 15 minutes from Dreamworld and 20 minues from Wet 'n Wild, the Outback Spectacular show, and Movie World, and are approximately 30 minutes from Harbour Town (movie theatre and outlet shopping), & Southport (Sea World). We are also located 10 minues from Jacobs Well (popular fishing and camping spot), and the nearby marina. Going north, the large Logan Hyperdome shopping centre is 15 minutes away (shopping and movie theatre).
Our home is a low set 4 bedroom home on a 670 sq metree block and has ducted airconditioning for the hot Queensland summers. Our suburb (Jacobs Ridge) is very quiet and safe and has many parks and walking tracks that we use regularly for our walks of between 3.5 km (with all of our dogs) and 10 km (with our younger dogs). I walk regularly with the dogs at night and have never felt to be in any danger. The bike tracks also provide great cycling within the estate, and the service road nearby is a popular haunt for cyclists due to its wide bike lanes.
Nearby facilities include gyms, shopping centres, medical facilities and buses throughout the estate that can provide transport to the nearby railway station. There is easy access to the freeway to provide vehicular access to the north or south within 5 minutes of home, although we do not experience freeway noise due to the ridge.
As our 7 furbabies are healthy but aging, we like them to retain the familiarity of their own home when we travel. They are accustomed to being left with a pet sitter who visits twice daily but who is unable to stay overnight. The 2 oldest dogs sleep inside at night and without someone staying at the property, we have to change this part of their routine - which we would rather not do.
