INTRODUCING ...
Bob and Joanna both retired from professional careers. Bob worked in public service (law enforcement) for many years and also owned an insurance agency. Joanna retired from the corporate world as a human resources manager and also has had her own home-based art business since the 1980s.
They met a few years ago by chance and now spend their summers in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada and travel far and wide through the winter.
Joanna describes Bob as "one of handiest fellows I've every met." His background in engineering gives him the ability to fix just about anything and to see ways to improve the functioning of things. "He is patient, kind, highly intelligent and funny," she says.
Joanna's many years in management positions have given her excellent leadership and communications skills. She is an excellent organizer and multi-tasker and a real people person. Bob says, "if you want something done, give it to Joanna, and you'll never have to worry about it." She is recently retired and still keeps a busy schedule, managing their household and properties, her art business and doing consulting work on the side.
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
We met each other late in life so we get a lot of enjoyment just spending time together. We are happy with a quiet lifestyle, being at home most nights. We do enjoy the occasional foray for dinner and a drink but generally prefer to spend our money and time exploring new places and meeting new people.
We have a passion for music, art and animals. We have deliberately made the hard choice not to have pets of our own so that we can travel. But, a home without pets is missing something, so we would really enjoy housesitting assignments where we get to be pet owners for a short time. We have lots of love and attention to give your furry friends!!
WHY HOUSESIT?
One of the main reasons we are interested in housesitting around the world is because of the opportunity it provides us to really live like, and with, the locals. Hotel visits are okay but it's not until you live in a neighborhood, interact with the residents and be part of the community that you really get a feel for a place. Our hearts are wide open for these adventures and opportunities!
And we would get real satisfaction knowing that our housesitting clients can feel confident leaving their home and pets in good care with us. We will treat what is yours with respect and dignity.
Our preference is for a non-smoking home, with at least a queen-sized bed, reliable WiFi and air-conditioning.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Joanna has several housesitting and pet sitting assignments under her belt. She has dealt with all kinds of things that happened "on her watch." Burst pipes flooding the home, the owner's car stolen from the front yard, the kittens eating the elderly canary and more! She's seen it all. "You just have to stay calm, work through it and laugh about it later," she says.
With a career in law enforcement, Bob has obviously seen and dealt with many emergencies and stressful situations.
