Hello, I am Shawn. I am a full-time college professor and got the opportunity to teach online and work remotely and I took it. I am now a digital nomad and love this new lifestyle. Like most animal sitters, I love animals. In addition to the traditional pets (dogs, cats, fish) I also had birds and small parrots most of my life. I am a neat nerdy girl who does not smoke/use tobacco products who likes to read, cook, walk, explore new places, and take pictures.
Since I work full-time online, I am there during the day to interact with your pet, accept packages, etc. I really love having an animal on my lap, shoulder, or nearby while I am on the computer. I also find taking breaks during the day to walk, cuddle, or play with an animal friend make me happier and more productive. It also really adds to their lives too.
Note: Since I work online, your home must have a spot for me to work and a reliable high-speed internet connection. At the moment my SUV is in the Pacific North West USA. If I am driving to your locations, I will need parking.
As a college professor and regular volunteer, I have been fingerprinted and have had background checks and have copies to share.
Photos - I am also the eldest child of a career photographer and grew up in the family business. While my real passion is nature photography and documenting what is special about an area, I am also pretty good at taking portraits. I will gladly to take pictures of you, your family, and pets as a little thank you choosing me. Just mention you would like some pictures when you are showing me around your home and walking me through your pets needs and routines. Think of the best spot for pictures in your home or yard beforehand. Daylight works best, but at night we can turn on extra lights to help things out. I can take photos with your camera/cell phone or with own. If I use my camera, it may take me several weeks to sort through and send the digital images.
Experienced Traveler - Before becoming a nomad, I would take a month or two off most years to explore a new area. Over the years, I have managed to make it onto all seven continents and have spent three to six weeks exploring about 40 countries. My favorite thing to do in each new area is to take off by myself and walk the area especially in areas with lots of street food options to try. I have a special love for developing and emerging market countries and have been everywhere from Zimbabwe to Antarctica. So, I am hardy and used to moving and being in new places and taking care of things on my own. I can take care of your home and pet needs.
Why I want to house sit
I fell in love with house sitting, when a family member asked me to stay and take care of their pets for several weeks. Those weeks spent loving on and taking care of her pets (dogs, cats, and fish) also really brought home how desperately I missed having furry and feathered friends in my life on a day to day basis. About a decade ago I decided that I traveled too much to have pets of my own. When my last baby passed (of old age), he was not replaced. House sitting, fills a hole in my heart that cannot be replaced by loving on friends and neighbors pets for a few hours when I get the chance. Now that I am a nomad, house sitting also allows me to come 'home' instead of staying in inexpensive accommodations and gives me a chance to explore a new a
