We are Robert and Carrie from Salt Lake City, Utah. We are full time, experienced, traveling pet and house sitters. We are healthy, young at heart, active, and non-smoking .
We provide gentle, kind, loving, affectionate care for your pets. We are clean, neat and tidy, and know how to take care of nice belongings. We are very reliable and trustworthy.
We follow your instructions carefully. We communicate well before and during the sit, giving updates along the way.
You can have complete confidence when leaving things in our capable hands.
Robert and Carrie have only been married 5 years, after their spouses passed away. Robert raised his family of 4 children in Texas. Carrie grew up in California and was married and raised her family of 4 children in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together we have 14 grandchildren.
There has never been a time that we haven't had multiple pets in our homes, usually a dog and several cats, and sometimes tropical fish, lizards, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, birds.
Robert has a Masters Degree in Graphic Design, and worked for Public Television and then advertising throughout his career. Carrie is an entrepreneur having many in home businesses including running a Preschool when her children were young, professional seamstress, a catering company and finally a high end wedding cake bakery for 25 years.
We love to hike and kayak, attend a symphony , or Broadway play, travel and sight see. During our Spring and Summer months we are outside in our large yard gardening and tending to our Koi in our pond and water features. This is especially Carrie's passion growing beautiful flowers and ferns. We enjoy being outside and going for walks. We also enjoy spending quiet time sitting, listening to good music, or reading, and cuddling with pets.
We began our House and Pet Sitting adventure in May 2019, in Raleigh, NC, USA where we stayed for two weeks. Our charges included a lively 7 yr old Russell Jack Terrier, Friday, who wanted continuous physical contact, extra love and attention, and shared our bed (bed hog) :). Callie is a very mellow, large old golden retriever. Grizzly, a giant mass of fur, was a recent rescue with arthritis and hip issues, and had extreme difficulty getting to his feet, and walking any short distance. He required very gentle care and encouragement, and we administered daily medications. Emmett is a bit insecure, shy, and reserved, and was happy to be part of our pack.
Our second assignment was in Oswestry, UK for three weeks. Millie and Widge are Black Labrador Retrievers, working sheep dogs. These girls required lots of activity and exercise, and long walks in the fields. Millie was mischievous, getting into things she shouldn't, and constantly tested to see what she could get away with. She required a firm hand, but responded very well to correction.
Our next placement was for nine days in Riscle, in Southwestern France. We adored our two little Yorkies, and a majestic Visla. Monty and Scamper slept in our bed, and Lazlo on the floor nearby. They love to swim in the river, and walk the empty country roads, and abandoned railroad tracks.
Moving on to Castillones, near Bergerac, France, for two weeks, where we tended to a large, mellow mixed breed dog, Max, and medium sized terrier Kiki, who loved to swim in their lake twice a day, and twelve country cats who live mostly outdoors coming around home mostly at feeding time, plus feeding feral cats in the village.
Our experience also comes from owning and maintaining our own homes each for over 45 years. We have always owned and loved a very large variety of pets. They are always valued members of our family. We have always had several cats at any one time. It has been our joy to have toy and teacup poodles (5), a Lhasa Apso, and a Shitzu/Lhasa mix. We have experienced birth of new babies, nursed sick animals, and sadly had to say goodbye to our fur babies when they passed on, over the years. We have also had a pair of finches, also hamsters, lizards, tropical fish, a koi pond, and fed wild birds.
Robert also cared for chickens and rabbits, growing up.
We have also cared for family and neighbors homes and pets while they were away. We have formally house/pet sat numerous times.
We know how difficult it has been to leave our pets when we traveled in the past, and how we were always concerned for their well being while we were away. Peace of mind while you are away is priceless.
