So here's a bit about us. I am a twenty year veteran (Dude, I hate saying that. Makes me feel so damn old) and my husband is a 10 year veteran. We have always been the outdoors type of people. Nature is our stress avoidance, and traveling our joy. We've owned two beautiful homes together (more individually). We’ve been in New Mexico for 14 years. Our kids all grew up, moved away, and are busy leading their lives now. So, we figured it's our time!
Sold the house, gave away almost everything we owned, and we are now attempting to put together a life of travel. We bought a truck, and are in the process of saving for the rest. We, of course, are going about it all wrong, according to some. But we weren’t able to have the house and the travel, so it’s this way or no way. The no way option was too depressing. And who knows for sure how long any of us have here? So the waiting to save part just seemed like a delay too long to consider. We really want to see and experience all our world has to offer (or at least a whole lot of it!). We are very hopeful that house sitting will provide an opportunity for us to do so.
We are really hoping to accomplish three things by signing up to house/pet sit. First, to be honest, it would give us a safe rent-free way to keep saving for our camper build. And second, it would be nice to be able to help other people travel when they can, without the worry of their homes appearing vacant, or their pets having to be taken out of their homes and boarded elsewhere. We know what that's like. And, I have to admit, this is a very attractive opportunity to be able to get our fill of scratching, petting and loving on animals without having to submit another pet to the rigors of constant travel. Finally, we are trying to find 'home'.
As for the 'home', we came to a realization that we were ...well, where we ended up. We loved the area, because we were used to it. We loved the house, because it was nice. But the location wasn't what we had always dreamt of. But we're not sure where we want to be. And so we must find it! Somewhere out there is a place that our hearts yearn to be. With a space for a pottery studio and a leather shop! When we get there, we will know. And thank you in advance for helping us get there.
We are looking to housesit and/or pet sit in homes that are clean and non-smoking (inside). We both have a healthy OCD when it comes to clean. I apologize if this offends anyone, but I believe it's better in these situations to be up front and honest. And honestly, it would quite literally drive us nuts to stay somewhere unclean. We fully understand that there is a difference between dirty and messy. As I am sure you do. So enough said about that.
Television isn't a priority, but Internet access would be appreciated. We are clean and respectful. Not snoopy or intrusive. We really just would like to give good people peace of mind to go on vacations, knowing that their homes and pets will be well cared for - while enjoying a larger space than the camper provides, and much smaller space than being homeless! :-) (Just kidding. We are never really homeless btw).
Both of us are active, but we both do have military service related disabilities. When you say that people tend to think of wheelchair bound, which we are not. We are quite capable, just not able to perform tasks that require a lot of heavy lifting, running, climbing, etc... Apparently Phillip learned the hard way that jumping out of airborne machinery is not the best thing for your body. And I'm just getting older. So like I said, capable – just a bit worn.
In summary, I suppose, you’d be happy you trusted us. And we’d be happy to help you.
