We would love to be able to come take care of your property and/or pets!
About us. We are a dual retired military couple. Phillip is 46 and was in the Army for 10 years. I am 54 and a 20 year Navy veteran. We've receintly sold our house in Placitas, NM in favor of traveling the country in order to see and experience different scenery, cultures, and lifestyles. Our country is so big and we all only ever see just a part of it, and we want to experience as much as we can before life dictates otherwise. We are unable to keep a house (home base) and travel. So we opted to travel. And here we are, at the beginning of our adventure!
While staying at a bed and breakfast recently (which is getting expensive!), the host mentioned house/pet sitting as an option that would help us to live our dream a bit easier, while helping others at the same time.
We have always had pets. Our daughter had a horse when she was still young, so we have experience there. We've had cats in the past, and our first two housesitting jobs centered around cats. One cat needed subcutaneous fluids in IV form admistered, and the other job was for two healthy cats. We have reference letters from both of those owners. Our son and wife (who lived with us at the time) had chickens, which we helped take care of. And we have always had dogs.
In August of 2019 our last canine family member passed away. So we currently have no pets, and we miss the simple companionship that they provide. Which is one reason why this seems to be a perfect fit for us. House/pet sitting gives us the opportunity to still have animals in our lives, if only in a temporary way. But as long time pet people, we also understand that vacationing is not always easy or even possible when you have pets. So is it also satisfying that we are able to help others travel without worrying about their homes or animals.
We are non-smoking, quiet, respectful, responsible, and non-snoopy. We prefer the company of animals and nature over people in general.
We are both a bit OCD, but I believe that in this situation that is more of a plus than anything. Phillip is big into old military vehicles, and I am a potter (when I can - it's not the best hobby for a traveler).
I mentioned our first two cat sitting jobs because we have no other references as yet. But we literally just signed on, and have those two really good recommendation letters. We do have friends and co-workers that would happily vouch for us as well. Our friends are long time business owners, a fireman, an accountant, a graphic artist, a mechanic, active military friends and police officers among others. All upstanding people in their own right. But if that is not enough, we can provide you with our DD-214's (discharge papers) to prove that we did serve as I have mentioned, and that we both were Honorably discharged. When the police check is completed, hopefully it doesn't take too long, we would be happy to provide that too. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about us. I personally would want to know everything I could about people who would be caring for my possessions and pets.
We are your stress-free way to take that trip and KNOW that your house and pets are well cared for! You will be happy you trusted us! Thank you for your time, and we are very exicted to hear from you.
