After my first housesit in the midwest, caring for two darling dogs, I left the U.S. in November of 2019 to embrace international housesitting full time. I started out with six back-to-back petsitting gigs in Costa Rica, caring for cats, dogs, and birds, providing the "pet parents" with daily or weekly updates, as desired. Covid-19 lockdown hit the week after I arrived at a new gig in the San Jose area. Borders closed, making it impossible for the homeowners to return from Florida for the foreseeable future. They are grateful to know that their 2 dogs and 2 cats are being well loved and cared for in their absence.
As a photographer/writer, I can work from anywhere and still have plenty of time to nurture your babies and care for your home. All of my homeowners to date have enjoyed beautiful photographs of their pets as an added bonus.
I owned my own home in Nebraska for 30 years, so I have experience with what it takes to keep things running smoothly. My own beloved pets are all gone, so I enjoy others' animals and shower them with affection.
Having grown up in Europe, I have experience with living in small spaces and I feel very comfortable offering to look after your place while you enjoy some time away.
I speak fluent English and German, conversational French, and I am learning both Spanish and Italian. I love to explore new areas and meet the local people wherever I go. I feel very at ease communicating with people in different countries, even where my language skills are not perfect.
With me looking after your home, you can trust that your house, your pets, and your plants will be lovingly cared for.
