Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get away from it all? We have a beautiful 55-acre farm in Missouri available over Christmas and New Year, just a few miles from the town of West Plains.
It comes complete with a private (stocked) lake and a magnificent 5,800 square foot home. It's the perfect place to get away from the rat race - no neighbors in sight!
From the screened-in back porch overlooking the lake to the comfortable movie lounge in the walkout basement, you'll have all the comforts - and none of the traffic! (There's surprisingly good Internet access though, in case you need to stay in touch.) Sadly the outdoor pool won't be open over Christmas, but curling up in front of the fireplace is just as fun! There is a lot of wildlife here, deer in the yard, geese and ducks in the lake and the blue herons may stay for the winter. We have our own elusive Groundhog (Steve), though he will probably be hibernating. Lots of Hawks and Bald Eagles fishing in the lake is a common sight. We have binoculars!
The farm is really not that challenging. We have a flock of ducks, who range inside a fenced area. We have horses on the property but they will be fed by a neighbor, unless you want to feed them! And then we have our "indoor farm" - four dogs, five cats! The dogs are extremely well-socialized and friendly, the cats are - well, cats. They sleep and stare a lot. There are also 2 bonus cats that came with the house and live outside.
We love all our animals and we're looking for people who will take the responsibility of looking after them very seriously. None of them are difficult, but we estimate that they can take a total of 2 hours a day between the various chores that go with providing them a good home.
The town is very friendly, it's about a 10-minute drive away, and has all the usual stores. There are a few good restaurants, but you'll probably want to plan to go shopping on Day One and make most of your own food. Or catch it, in the lake, if so inclined!
