Rural House/Cat Sitter Needed Several Months this Winter
We live on an acreage about a 15-minute drive from Prince Albert. It is very peaceful and pretty here with a lot of trees around. Our outdoor bird feeders are visited by a variety of birds and frequent deer. Our house will be ideal for those who love nature and quiet country living...no parties here!
We get some absolutely amazing views of the night sky since our view is unobstructed. Also, there is no light pollution here, and when there are northern lights, they are spectacular!!
We have 2 senior cats who need care. They like to go outside if it is not too cold out, but they must be in each night as they would be at risk from predators. Our cats are 16-year-old brothers who require daily thyroid medication which consists of crushed pills added to their food. Pumpkin loves attention and he will cuddle readily. Flapjack also loves to cuddle, but he is more timid and needs time to get to know you first. We feed them morning and night. Their litter boxes need to be cleaned every few days.
We have some indoor potted plants that will need watering. Our mail (mostly junk) is delivered to our mailbox near the end of our lane 3 times a week. It needs to be collected regularly so the box doesn't get too full.
Our house is the first one on a road connected to the paved highway to Prince Albert. The highway itself is cleared of snow regularly as it is used as a school bus route. Snow removal from our driveway is done with a riding lawnmower which has a snowblower attached. It would be a definite plus if you are handy!
We'd prefer nonsmokers, but if you must smoke, you would need to do it outside in the cold!
Prince Albert is a small city with a population of approximately 36,000. It is considered the gateway to the north as it is the last major city along the route to northern Saskatchewan.
We have a small acreage (2 and 1/2 acres) which is about 15 kilometres from town. We have satellite TV and internet. You may enjoy our library and game collection. We also have a large home gym to get some exercise when it is too cold to go out!
Many people believe that, as one of Canada's prairie provinces, Saskatchewan is flat and relatively treeless farmland. The area around Prince Albert, however, marks a transition zone between aspen parkland and the beautiful boreal forests north of here. Prince Albert National Park which is located 50 kilometres north of the city is a beautiful place to visit with its varied forests, lakes, and wildlife.
Outdoor enthusiasts who visit the area around Prince Albert enjoy a wide variety of activities including fishing, boating/canoeing/kayaking, skating, cross-country skiing, and numerous other activities.
Our dates are completely flexible, but we would like to be gone from 3-4 months. We are requesting our housesitter to come at least one day before we leave so we can give instructions and get to know one another (and introduce you to our cats!)
