Important note as this is a short notice for needing a sitter, we can possibly adjust the travel dates by a couple of days, if absolutely necessary. That said:
House/Pet sitter needed for lovely swiss chalet type home on the mountain, altitude 4800ft., temp. ranging from 60 to 80 degrees daily. 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, Satellite TV, Internet, beautiful glassed in porch with some bird watching, lots of hummingbirds. We have 2 small/medium dogs they are cockers 1 is 13.5 yrs (mostly blind) & a 4.5 year old, both very loving & the young one loves to play fetch. Once a day, we take the girls next door for about 10 minutes so Bonnie can fetch the ball and run in the big yard. We also have 2 small birds,1 cockatiel & 1 lovebird. The cages will need to have paper changed every other day, and washed out 1x/week. This takes approx 10 minutes. Our pets are very important to us and it is imperative that you like animals. We have a small yard and garden which we have a gardener come in once a week for 4 hrs to care for. The only thing you will need to do there is some pooper scoopering. We know this is not appealing, but we did want to let you know in advance.
There is good local bus service within 1 block of house and very reasonable taxi service. Great neighbors & friends which we will introduce you to. Grocery, bank, church,language schools, shopping mall, all approx 10 to 20 minutes away. We have a Maid available to help with cleaning & laundry, 10 hrs/wk for $30/wk. Please keep in mind that this is a spanish speaking country, so if you are interested in learing spanish, this is a great opportunity. Many of the previous house sitters did not speak spanish when they arrived, but did decide to take lessons, also 3 out of the past 5 housesitters have moved here. There are some local 1 day tours available nearby, so you can experience beautful Costa Rica. A couple would be prefered, but that is not written in stone.
We would want someone who could arrive a couple of days before we leave to learn the ropes, and please know that if you wanted to stay in the country and tour after our return, you could use our home as a base for a while.
