We’re looking for someone (single or couple) to stay on our 28 acre property 12km north of Mt Barker, WA, for 5 to 8 months starting early April We’re 60KM from of Albany, Denmark and the Stirling Ranges. There are no pets to look after (unless you have one or two) and your accommodation is in a small self contained mudbrick dwelling next to the main house. This is still being built but will be finished by April. This will eventually be used for WWOOFERs (willing workers on organic farms) when we return. Equipped with hot water, gas cooker, and 12V power there are no costs involved and would be free to pursue writing a book. Situated amongst a mountain of birdlife there is no passing traffic to bother you. There is no landline, but telstra 3G is here, although sporadic. We do have a few sweet spots which we use when needed. There are fruit trees and a vegie garden if you choose to grow your own produce. The main reason to have someone here is to keep any large animals such as foxes, kangaroos and rabbits at bay, by simply coming and going. Once every few days walking through the main house to make sure ants, or mice haven’t invaded (in 10 years this has never happened) and if a large branch or tree fell on the driveway, to remove it and a bit of weeding as required. The property would need a more hands on person and a large workshop is there to help. We often go away for work for up to 4 weeks at a time so there is no need to feel you need to be here every day. ie take a local holiday and see the area while here.
