With apologies for such late posting (our pet sitting arrangements fell through) we are seeking a companion for our Aussie for ten days through HouseCarers, if at all possible. Molly is a nine-year-old rescued Australian Shepherd. Plus, we have a few plants that will need watering at least once while we are away.
About Molly: She gets up by 6:30 a.m. and gets walked four times a day. There is a lovely park nearby for this purpose. Molly lives with us in a brick two-flat condominium located in the charming Village of Oak Park, eight miles from one of the world’s great cities, Chicago. We are on the second floor; no elevator. Our walkable village is famous for the influence of the late, modern architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. His home and studio are about one mile from our front door.
Our neighborhood boasts vegan and non-vegan eateries; a wonderful independent bookstore; coffee shops; a movie theatre; library; and a food co op. Our neighbors are friendly, and there are lots of dogs, mostly rescued, who sniff our urban space.
The “L” (elevated train) is two blocks from our door, and this connects you quickly with all of the sights in Chicago (the Chicago Art Institute, the Magnificent Mile, The summer Grant Park Musical Festival and other events at Millennium Park, the Lurie Gardens, Navy Pier, the Shakespeare Theatre, Second City, and many other first-class tourist sites.
In the spirit of Housecarers , we offer our space for free in return for caring for our Aussie. We do not pay expenses of any kind. Our car is not available for use. It is best not to have a car at all as parking is problematic, and public transportation is near by. Our village touts itself for being a walk able place to live.
Again, we offer apologies for our late notice. We do hope this works out for someone who loves dogs, especially Aussies.
