We are a shared apartment in Cologne, Germany: two girls in our thirties companied by an elderly cat. The girls are going to experience their greatest adventure so far - a three weeks' Texas road trip in May/June!
The cat is rather old and suffers from a heart defect. Furthermore, he really loves humans! A three weeks' vacation with the animal shelter, or worse, home alone with some external caregiver coming in once a day for feeding purposes would be too much for his heart. Hence we are looking for a house sitter to take care of our rather small apartment and especially the cat. The position is not paid, but you'll be provided with everything needed - except your own daily grocery needs.
Our apartment is located in southern Cologne city; everything necessary is available around the corner (groceries, restaurants, bars, doctors, park, playground, etc). Train/bus stations towards downtown Cologne and/or towards party locations or bars are just some minutes to walk. By train, you'll reach downtown within 10 minutes; within 15 by bicycle. Two bicycles will be provided.
We live on top floor (4th floor: no elevator, but no noisy neighbours around as well); 55 square meters including 2-3 rooms, small bathroom, separate kitchen and kitchen-like seating in the hallway. WiFi provided. No cable TV, neither TV screen! We can provide standard luxury: washing mashine, dishwasher, stove, micro wave, bathroom with tub and so on. There's also a small yard downstairs (but we haven't used it yet).
We are looking for a responsible housekeeper to regularly water the plants, take care of our mail and clean the apartment from time to time while we're gone. Most important job: feeding the cat two times a day; doing the litter once a day. Cuddling the cat. He doesn't need any medical care, so you'll be fine with him. He's a really lovely guy :-) You can feel free to do whatever you want as long as the cats' daily needs are fulfilled anytime. You could also bring a friend with you in case you may fear to feel lonely. We have enough space for two housekeepers!
We will be on vacation starting May 16 or 17 up to June 6 or 7. Therefore it would be great to have you around for at least one or two days before we leave - just to make sure everything is comfy to you and you'll get to know the daily routines.
