Introduction
We are an attorney and journalist living in the beautiful Virginia countryside. We have two awesome Basenjis that need someone to keep them safe and happy while their dog parents travel on their 30 wedding annivesary trip.
Our Home & Location

New 2900 sq. foot house on a very secluded 9 acres. Nothing but woodland surrounding the home. 1/2 acre fenced backyard. Single floor with no indoor stairs. Large driveway. Huge deck with outdoor dining table and charcoal grill. Screened covered deck for relaxing in the afternoon. Multiple large 4K TVs with Netflix, Apple TV, and Hulu. Dolby Atmos home theater. High speed FIOS internet, Large shower with jetted tub, Huge modern gourmet kitchen with every gadget you will ever need. Workout room elliptical, spin bike, and large TV with Les Mills exercise subscription. Home alarm system, Firepit and outdoor hot tub. Washer and dryer, 3 car garage with indoor parking available. For EV drivers, we have both Tesla and non-Tesla Level 2 charging stations. PS5 and Xbox Series X with 50+ games. Vinyl record player with hundred of records to listen to.
Located minutes from the major highway that takes you to Richmond and Charlottesville. Corner country store and Dollar General are within walking distance. Awesome modern drive-in theater 5 minutes away. The house is about 20 minutes from Wal-Mart and many restaurants. A 30 minute drive on the highway gets you to historic Charlottesville with lots of arts, restaurants, etc. In the opposite direction is Short Pump (upscale Richmond suburb) which has an upscale mall, Target, Costco, grocery stores, etc. (basically anything you would need.) We have several nice local wineries and breweries close by as well as apple orchards where you can pick your own apples. Local farmers have produce stands to buy fresh vegetables. You can kayak and boat on the James River about 20 minutes from our house. Lake Anna State Park is 45 minutes away which has a huge lake for kayaking, fishing, hiking, etc. Powatan State Park is also close by for hiking, fishing, etc.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our 2 Basenjis get walks twice a day and access to the backyard for running, sunning, and chasing squirrels as needed. They are fed twice a day. They are used to having someone with them most of the day as both of us work from home. None of the dogs have any health issues and our vet is located about 25 minutes from the house. Dogs are used to sleeping with us so don't be surprised if they want to snuggle at night.
***Unfortunately, we are looking for a sitter without young children. We do not have children and our dogs are not used to kids. Small children's energy tend to stress them out since they have not been around children very often. ***
*** We do not have a car that you can use. You will need to have transportation while at our home as most stores, restaurants, entertainment, etc. are not walkable,***
