We are looking for a house sitter for an approximate three week period -- between about October 23 and November 15. [Exact dates still to be determined.] Generally self-sufficient single persons preferred, but couples considered.
Our country-style home is situated just off the Blue Ridge Parkway very close to the small community of Meadows of Dan. It is nestled within 25 acres of rolling pastoral/wooded landscape with a spring-fed pond and walking trails. In addition to our spacious main residence, we have a guest house on the property. [If you search for Pondview Guesthouse, you can browse through several years of photo blogs on the home page and get a good sense of our property.] We have WiFi [20Mbps], but no TV. Cell reception is strong for most services. Responsibilities would include caring for our very companionable dog, Suzy-Q (indoor/outdoor), and our two cats, Spindle and Hera (outdoor only) and watering house plants. If interested, possible Guesthouse management duties would be compensated monetarily. Guestroom with balcony overlooking pond in main residence would be made available to house sitter.
While this time period is during the late fall season, weather is generally amenable for outdoor activities – and fall ambiance in the area typically lingers into November. Property is ideal for a peaceful retreat. Yet, there are also ample opportunities for social and cultural interactions within our nearby friendly community as well as throughout the surrounding area. There is a fairly active locl music scene, primarily focused on "Blue Grass." We are happy to discuss particulars in greater detail as well as provide local introductions, if desired.
