I graduate in April with a M.S. in Geography, and I hope to do a medium to long-term house sit to better my foreign language skills and possibly develop a business plan for an online start-up. Having a background in Geography, I've traveled and lived in many countries, so being adaptable and flexible are definitely my stronger points. I'm also a former home-owner (what was I thinking?? I love to travel way too much!), so I understand the importance of finding a house sitter who is dependable, responsible, and experienced with regular house maintenance.
I get along great with animals. I have a cat (who will stay with my parents while I am away), but have had dogs, small rodents, and even a ball python. I spent a month as a caretaker on a small farm in Rotorua, New Zealand and was responsible for feeding horses and chickens, and I would be comfortable doing this again.
Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. Right now, I live in an apartment, and I am really saddened that I don't even have a patio to grow plants on (can't keep any inside because my cat will eat them). I would love to house sit for a property with a garden. I also have experience with maintaining a hot tub, and would be happy to learn how to maintain a swimming pool.
My only real requirement for house sitting is that high speed internet be available at the property, as I hope to be working on developing an online business. Preferably, the property would be convenient to restaurants or shops, as I won't have my own car. A very remote property would not suit me well because of these needs.
I have a clean background and am willing to supply proof of that, as well as my clean driving record. I have several years of experience in property management (both in hotel/condo rentals and apartment/house rentals), and would be happy to negotiate an agreement if you need assistance with this kind of work. I have plenty of references available, but to protect their privacy, I will wait to provide them until a possible house sit is arranged.
