We are retired and have widely varied life experiences. We both have graduate degrees and we have owned a number of homes which we have always improved, in many cases extensively. We are non-smokers and have no pets. Friends (and children) describe us as very organized, neat and clean.
We grew up in New England and lived for many years in the New York area especially in New York City, and our last home was in Tucson, Arizona. We sold our Tucson home in May 2010 after a major renovation of the guest house and main house on which we acted as general contractors.
From June 2010 through October 2010 we volunteered for the California State Parks acting as docents at the Ford House in Mendocino. We then had a house sitting assignment in New Mexico that ended mid March, 2011. Since then we have been traveling, house sitting and volunteering overseas. We are now living and volunteering in Asheville, NC but would like to explore more areas - we love to get to really know "your" neighborhood..
Our working careers gave us considerable experience in problem solving and in managing people and projects - David in information technology in the insurance industry, Susan as a business owner, organizational consultant and realtor (involved in the development and sales of converted commercial buildings to residential buildings in NYC). We have both worked as volunteers in a variety of situations, and continue to devote considerable time volunteering.
We have many references and will be happy to provide them when requested – all of these folks will be able to comment on the way we maintain a property and on our ethics and dependability.
We would love to travel to new destinations and stay for longer periods of time so that we can get to know both the physical area and the folks who live there. House sitting enables a win/win situation for all involved.
We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
